Class Representatives

What is a "class representative?" A person designated as a "class representative" in a Class Action Suit is a plaintiff, who is actually named in the complaint. There may be a small group of individuals who initiated the Class Action Suit and who are designated as "class representatives." One individual, usually the person who initiated the action against the defendant(s) may be designated the "lead class representative. "Class members" are the individuals from the population, who are claiming to have suffered damages by the defendant(s) in the same manner as the "class representative(s)" and are seeking remedies the same as the "class representative(s)."
